  7. Cookies and other technologies

    General information

In order to make visiting our website attractive and to enable the use of certain functions, we use technologies including cookies on various pages. Cookies are small text files which are automatically stored on your end device. Some of the cookies we use are deleted at the end of the browser session, i.e. after closing your browser (session cookies). Other cookies remain on your end device and enable us to recognise your browser the next time you visit (persistent cookies).

We use technologies that are absolutely necessary for the use of certain functions of our website (e.g. shopping cart function). These technologies collect and process IP addresses, time of visit, device and browser information, as well as information on your use of our website (e.g. information on the contents of the shopping basket). This serves to protect our legitimate interests in an optimised presentation of our services in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 subpara. 1(f) GDPR.

We also use technology to fulfil the legal obligations to which we are subject (e.g. to provide evidence of consent to the processing of your personal data) as well as for web analysis and online marketing. For more information on this, including the respective legal basis for data processing, please refer to the following sections of this Privacy Policy.

The cookie settings for your browser can be found under the following links: Microsoft Edge™ / Safari™ / Chrome™ / Firefox™ / Opera™

Insofar as you have consented to the use of technology in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 subpara. 1(a) GDPR, you may revoke your consent at any time by sending a message to the contact information contained in the Privacy Policy.

  8. Use of cookies and other technologies for web analysis and advertising purposes

Insofar as you have given your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 subpara. 1(a) GDPR, we use the following cookies and other third-party technologies on our website. Once we no longer require the use of the respective technology, the data collected in this context will be deleted. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. For more information on the ways in which you can withdraw your consent, please refer to the section “Cookies and other technologies”. Further information, including the basis of our collaboration with the individual providers, can be found in the sections on individual technologies. If you have any questions regarding providers and the basis of our collaboration, please use the contact information contained in this Privacy Policy.

    1. Use of Google services for web analysis and advertising purposes

We use the following technologies from Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). The information automatically collected by the Google technologies about your use of our website is usually transferred to a server belonging to Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA and stored there. There is no adequacy decision by the European Commission for the USA. Our collaboration with these service providers is based on standard data protection clauses of the European Commission.  If your IP address is collected by Google Technologies, it will be truncated before being stored on the Google servers by activating IP anonymisation. The full IP address will only be sent to a Google server before being truncated in exceptional cases. Unless otherwise stated in the individual technologies, the data processing takes place on the basis of an agreement concluded for the respective technology between data controllers in accordance with Art. 26 GDPR. For more information on data processing by Google, please refer to Google’s data protection information.

      Google Analytics

For the purpose of website analysis, Google Analytics data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information, as well as information on your use of our website) is automatically collected and stored. Usage profiles are created from this data using pseudonyms. Cookies may be used for this purpose. Your IP address will generally not be amalgamated with other data held by Google. The data is processed on the basis of an agreement on data processing by Google.

For the purpose of optimising the marketing of our website, we have activated the data release settings for “Google products and services”. This enables Google to access the data collected and processed by Google Analytics and then use it to improve Google services. The data is released to Google following the activation of these data release settings on the basis of an additional agreement between data controllers. We have no influence on subsequent data processing by Google.

For the creation and execution of tests, we also use the extension function of Google Analytics, Google Optimize.

Google Signals, the extension function of Google Analytics, enables “cross-device tracking” for web analysis. Insofar as your internet-capable devices are linked to your Google account and you have activated the “personalised advertising” setting in your Google account, Google may create reports on your usage behaviour (in particular the cross-device user numbers) even if you change your end device. We do not process personal data in this respect, we only receive statistics based on Google Signals.

For web analysis and advertising purposes, the extension function of Google Analytics, the DoubleClick cookie, enables your browser to be recognised when you visit other websites. Google will use this information to compile reports on website activities and to provide other services associated with website use.

      Google AdSense

Our website markets space for third-party ads using Google AdSense. These ads will be displayed in various places on this website. The DoubleClick cookie is used to display interest-based advertising through the collection and processing of data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information and information about your use of our website) as well as the automatic assignment of a pseudonymous UserID, with the help of which interests are determined based on visits to this and other websites.

      Google Ads

For advertising purposes in Google search results and on the websites of third parties, the Google Remarketing cookie is stored when you visit our website. This cookie automatically enables interest-based advertising by means of the collection and processing of data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information, as well as information on your use of our website) and by means of a pseudonymous CookieID and based on the pages you visited. Any further data processing will only take place if you have enabled the “personalised advertising” setting in your Google account. In this case, if you are logged into Google while visiting our website, Google will use your data together with Google Analytics data to create and define lists of target groups for cross-device remarketing.

For website analysis and event tracking, we use Google Ads Conversion Tracking to measure your subsequent usage behaviour when you have accessed our website via a Google Ads advertisement. Cookies may be used for this purpose and data collected (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information, as well as information on your use of our website based on events specified by us such as visiting a website or subscribing to a newsletter) from which usage profiles are created using pseudonyms.

      Google Maps

For the visual representation of geographical information, data about your use of the Maps functions, in particular IP address and location data, is collected by Google Maps, transmitted to Google and then processed by Google. We have no influence on this subsequent data processing.

      Google reCAPTCHA

To protect against misuse of our web forms and against spam by automated software (bots), Google reCAPTCHA collects data (IP address, time of visit, browser information and information about your use of our website) and uses a JavaScript and cookies to analyse your use of our website. Other cookies stored by Google services in your browser are also evaluated. Personal data from the input fields of the respective form will not be read out or saved.

      Google Fonts

To ensure the uniform presentation of the content on our website, data is collected (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information) by the “Google Fonts” script code, transmitted to Google and then processed by Google. We have no influence on this subsequent data processing.

      YouTube Video Plugin

In order to integrate third-party content, data is collected (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information) via the YouTube video plug-in in the enhanced data protection mode we use, transmitted to Google and then processed by Google, only when you play a video.

    2. Use of Facebook services for web analysis and advertising purposes

      Use of Facebook Pixel

We use Facebook Pixel within the scope of the technologies of Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”) described below. Facebook Pixel automatically collects and stores data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information, as well as information on your use of our website based on events specified by us such as visiting a website or subscribing to a newsletter), from which usage profiles are created using pseudonyms. In the course of further data comparison, information is also collected and hashed for comparison purposes, with which individuals can be identified (e.g. names, e-mail addresses and phone numbers). For this purpose, Facebook Pixel automatically creates a cookie when you visit our website which enables your browser to be recognised automatically by means of a pseudonymous CookieID when you visit other websites. Facebook will combine this information with other data from your Facebook account and use it to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services relating to website activity, in particular personalised and group-based advertising.

The information automatically collected by the Facebook technologies about your use of our website is generally transferred to a server belonging to Facebook, Inc., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, California 94025, USA and stored there. There is no adequacy decision by the European Commission for the USA. If we are responsible for the data transfer to the USA, our cooperation is based on standard data protection clauses of the European Commission. For more information on data processing by Facebook, please refer to the Facebook Privacy Polic.

      Facebook Analytics

      Facebook Ads

As part of Facebook Analytics, statistics about visitor activities on our website are created from the data collected using Facebook Pixel relating to your use of our website. The data is processed on the basis of an agreement on data processing by Facebook. Your analysis is used for the optimal presentation and marketing of our website.

We use Facebook Ads to advertise this website on Facebook and other platforms. We determine the parameters of the respective advertising campaign. Facebook is responsible for the exact implementation, in particular determining the placement of the ads for individual users. Unless otherwise specified in the individual technologies, the data processing takes place on the basis of an agreement between data controllers in accordance with Art. 26 GDPR. Joint responsibility is limited to the collection of data and its transmission to Facebook Ireland. The subsequent data processing by Facebook Ireland is not covered by this agreement.

Based on the statistics on visitor activities on our website created via Facebook Pixel, we conduct group-based advertising on Facebook using Facebook Custom Audience by determining the characteristics of the respective target group. Facebook acts as our processor in the context of the extended data comparison (see above) to determine the respective target group. Based on the pseudonymous cookie ID created by Facebook Pixel and the collected data on your usage behaviour on our website, we conduct personalised advertising via Facebook Pixel Remarketing.

We use Facebook Pixel Conversions to measure your subsequent usage behaviour for web analysis and event tracking if you accessed our website via an advertisement from Facebook Ads. The data is processed on the basis of an agreement on data processing by Facebook

    3. Other providers of web analysis and online marketing services

Use of Matomo as a software solution for web analysis

For the purpose of website analysis, the Matomo software provided by InnoCraft Ltd., 150 Willis St, 6011 Wellington, New Zealand will automatically collect and store data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information, as well as information on your use of our website), from which usage profiles are created using pseudonyms. Cookies may be used for this purpose. The pseudonymised usage profiles are not amalgamated with personal data about the owner of the pseudonym without express consent to be given separately. The data is processed by Matomo on our servers.

  9. Integration of the Trusted Shops Trustbadge

The Trusted Shops Trustbadge is integrated on this website to display our Trusted Shops seal of approval and any reviews that may have been collected, as well as to offer Trusted Shops products to buyers after an order has been placed.

This serves to protect our legitimate interests in optimal marketing by enabling safe shopping in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 subpara. 1(f) GDPR. The Trustbadge and the services thus advertised are offered by Trusted Shops GmbH, Subbelrather Str. 15C, 50823 Cologne, Germany. The Trustbadge is provided by a CDN provider (Content Delivery Network) as part of data processing. Trusted Shops GmbH also uses service providers from the USA. An adequate level of data protection is ensured. Further information on data protection at Trusted Shops GmbH can be found here

When the Trustbadge is accessed, the web server automatically saves a server log file which also contains your IP address, date and time of access, volume of data transmitted and the requesting provider (access data) and documents the retrieval. Individual access data is stored in a security database for the analysis of security irregularities. The log files are automatically deleted no later than 90 days after creation.

Additional personal data will be transferred to Trusted Shops GmbH if you decide to use Trusted Shops products after placing an order or have already registered for their use. The contractual agreement concluded between you and Trusted Shops shall apply. For this purpose, personal data is automatically collected from the order data. An automatic check is carried out using a neutral parameter to determine whether you, as the purchasing party, are already registered for product use. The email address is hashed using a cryptological one-way function. The e-mail address is converted into this hash value, which cannot be decrypted for Trusted Shops, before it is transmitted. After checking for a match, the parameter is automatically deleted.

This is necessary for the fulfilment of our overriding legitimate interests and Trusted Shops’ overriding legitimate interests in the provision of the buyer protection linked to the specific order and the transactional valuation services in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 subpara. 1(f) GDPR. Further details, including objections, can be found in the Trusted Shops Privacy Policy above and in the Trustbadge.
